Conveniently situated in the pretty Somerset village of Farmborough and just minutes away from the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, School Cottage, a tastefully renovated country cottage surrounded by lovely gardens, has the perfect combination of style and traditional charm. We believe the standard of the accommodation at School Cottage - and the adjoining B&B – reflects our very high expectations of quality, cleanliness, attention to detail and service. We were featured in September 2009's issue of House Beautiful magazine which we hope indicates that other people agree!

Our charming holiday cottage is in a beautiful rural location; lots of fresh air, farmland and farm animals with great walks and country pubs on the doorstep - always a good combination for keeping children, and parents (!) amused. As well as being child-friendy we are also pet-friendly too. We have various animals of our own- chickens, ducks, cats, tortoises and pygmy goats - all may help to keep the kids occupied.

The cottage itself has many lovely attributes; an oak porch, a cosy sitting room with original quarry tiled floor, exposed stone wall and beams and a fireplace with wood-burning stove. The modern conveniences include TV and DVD; fully equipped kitchen and utility room including dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven, fridge, microwave and washing machine and a bathroom with bath and shower. Towels are provided, as well as tea-towels, toiletries, quality bed linen and logs for the burner to take the edge off the chilly evenings.

The cottage sleeps 4 in two bedrooms comprising 1 kingsize double and a twin (which can be made into a 2nd kingsize if you prefer). A travel cot is also provided (if required). There is a sofa-bed in the sitting room if you need more space or have visitors. A stair-gate and high-chair are available. There is also an essentials baby box provided just in case you forget anything - as well as a baby mat and baby bath. As well as being child-friendy we are also pet-friendly too.

To the front of the property is a patio area for you to relax and enjoy your surroundings - the complimentary basket of provisions, provided at the start of your stay, has all the ingredients to enjoy a perfect al fresco breakfast including tea, coffee, milk, bread, home-made jam and fresh eggs from the resident hens.

Alternatively if you’d like to have breakfast cooked for you, you can, by prior arrangement, take it in our adjoining B & B which, incidentally, could be used by other members of your family if you are considering holidaying with a crowd – best of both worlds maybe!

The cottage is within walking distance of the village shop as well as the 2 village pubs, one of which has a children’s play area. There is also a children's park a short walk away. There is a great selection of other country pubs nearby serving excellent, locally sourced food, not to mention the vast choice of eateries just a short drive away in Bath.

Located off the A39 southwest of Bath and within easy reach of Wells, Glastonbury, Bristol, Cheddar, the Mendips and Somerset Coast, with National Trust properties and areas of outstanding natural beauty just a short drive away, Farmborough is the ideal location from which to explore this beautiful region. We are also only 20 minutes away from Bristol Airport and close to the popular wedding venue Priston Mill, as well as the Tilley Farm TTouch centre.

The cottage is let on a weekly basis Saturday to Saturday. However we also offer short breaks. Please email or phone owners direct for short break tariffs or seasonal offers. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
