Festival Fever

Taste of BathTaste of Bath remains a huge success - so much so that dates for 2009 have been set. From 2nd-5th July 2009 (tbc), Royal Victoria Park hosts a wonderful celebration of the finest food and drink that the South West has to offer. Restaurants are the stars of this festival and many of the region's best will have samples of their brilliant signature dishes on the menu in this stunning alfresco setting - just below the Royal Crescent.

Taste of BathDesigned around the concept of "Foodie Heaven" Taste of Bath brings together Michelin Star restaurants, fresh organic produce, celebrity chef demonstrations, wine seminars, a speciality beer academy, independent producers, fine wine, its very own currency (crowns) and a great entertainment line-up - all the best ingredients for a buzzing summer festival. Don't miss out in 2009!

The exhibition scrutinises the impact of the tragedy on America, the proceedings of the Senate Enquiry are extensively quoted, so that visitors will be able to 'hear' in the words of survivors what happened the night the most luxuriant of all the great transatlantic liners was lost to the ocean.

Also new for 2008: visitors will be able to choose between listening to an audio guide throughout the rooms, conversing with room guides or enjoying a public tour. Groups are welcome to have a self-guided visit during public hours or if organizers prefer to extend their trip, a private tour of the period rooms can be organized before the museum opens

Costumed Characters at the Roman Baths

Costumed characters at the Roman BathsThe Roman Baths continue to be the most popular heritage attraction in the South West and contain the remains of one of the greatest religious spas in the ancient world. The Roman Baths are the perfect attraction for groups and this year visitors can now meet Roman characters in the flesh. Several Roman characters, known to us from archaeological evidence at the site, can be encountered by visitors to the Roman Baths every afternoon between 1pm and 4pm. They include Gaius Calpurnius Receptus, a priest of the goddess Sulis Minerva. He offers a prayer to the goddess and can give you advice on the most auspicious times and offerings to make to the deity.
