The Colliers Way

This is a new high quality shared-use path that runs between Frome and Dundas Aqueduct near Limpley Stoke, intended for cyclists, walkers and wheelchair-users, and horse-riders (some restrictions). It offers over 11 miles of completely safe traffic-free cycling along former railway lines, connected by around 8 miles of quiet country lanes, and takes you through some of the most pleasant countryside that Somerset can offer.

With the recent completion of a further section from Mells (Conduit Bridge) to Great Elm, approximately 9.6 miles traffic-free miles are now available for tourists to enjoy, with more to come in the future.

The dramatic Dundas Aqueduct crosses the River Avon at the north end of the road. There is a visitor centre here with cycle-hire and refreshment facilities.

The former mining community of Radstock is home to the truly excellent Radstock Museum where the long and fascinating history of mining and life in the North Somerset Coalfields can be discovered.

Kilmersdon’s Jack and Jill of the nursery rhyme have been brought to life through the Jack and Jill Millennium Project. Mells is connected with another nursery rhyme, where Little Jack Horner reputedly obtained the deeds to Mells Manor after they were hidden in a pie.

Frome is steeped in history and creativity, with more listed buildings than any other town in Somerset, as well as a renowned and thriving Arts and Crafts community.
