Muñoz’s natural, unobtrusive eye and documentary-style photography portray local African and Asian communities. Naturally drawn to rural and nomadic communities, past projects have included work on Morocco and Laos. This exhibition presents a new body of work, inspired by Mongolia. Here, Muñoz turns his photographic lens to remote villages and nomadic life in Mongolia, a country in which nomadic tradition has been at the core of its history. He spends time getting to know the local communities and lives with them for long periods of time – for this is an integral part to his work. This shared experience imbues his work with a deeper connection and sensitivity with his subjects. He engages in a breadth of portraiture, close ups and landscapes, revealing intimate moments of the Mongolian communities.
