Events at the Museum of East Asian Art in October

Tuesday 7th October- 5.30-7.30pm Mahjong Club
Mahjong (Majiang) is a game for 4 players which originated in China. It involves skill, strategy and a degree of luck!

Tuesday 14th October – Sunday 19th October – Tashi Lhunpo Monks visiting the Museum Of East Asian Art to create sand mandala.

Tuesday 14th October – from 10am Launch of the Sand Mandala
The Tashi Lhunpo monks will start the first of their six days creating a sand mandala as part of the Museum’s Season of Tibet.
A mandala ticket is available from the Museum reception; this ticket will allow unlimited visits during this week to watch the progress of the mandala. The mandala ticket does not include entrance to workshops or guarantee a place at the destruction ceremony.

Friday 24th October 3.30pm – 4.30pm Storytelling
Christina Wu leads our family friendly storytelling session with a ghostly theme and a chance to draw your own ghostly pictures ready for Halloween!

Saturday 25th October – Sunday 2nd October – Heritage Open Week: free entry to the Museum and workshops for the duration of Heritage Open Week!

All week The Big Draw: Meditative Mandalas
Be inspired by the Museum’s exhibition Cosmic Design: Tibetan Mandala and create your own mandala to add to the Museum’s collective display (for all ages)

All week Trail of Tales
Explore the Museum on a self-guided learning tour (for all ages)

Wednesday 29th October 11.00am – 12noon “Every Object Tells a Story”
A guided tour suitable for families, including stories associated with particular objects in the Museum’s collection.

Friday 31st October 11.00am – 11.30am Touching the Past
Drop-in handling session for all ages to come and handle artefacts from the Museum’s collection.
